Joe Wurz was born and raised on a picturesque tree fruit farm in the charming town of Keremeos, where he nurtured his connection to the land even as he attended school. This early experience instilled in him a deep appreciation for agriculture and a commitment to sustainable practices.
After embarking on an educational journey at the prestigious University of British Columbia in the Lower Mainland, Joe returned to the family farm each summer, staying connected to the land until its sale in 1965. Despite his successful business career in Vancouver, the allure of the Similkameen Valley lingered in his heart, as if calling him home.
In 2008, Joe seized the opportunity to reclaim his roots by purchasing a 40-acre property that would evolve into Tree to Me. With determination and vision, he transformed what was once a hay field into a thriving organic farm, where fresh produce, cultural enrichment, and a vibrant community could flourish. His journey reflects a purpose-driven adventure, merging passion with dedication to cultivate not only the land but also connections that inspire and sustain all who engage with it.
Joe and his wife Kathy can often be found at the farm, admiring the views, having a bite or working the gardens.
